Michell Kauffman

Mitchell E. Kauffman, MBA, MSFP

As managing director and owner of Kauffman Wealth Services, Mitchell Kauffman has been providing wealth management and financial advisory services to his clients for 30 years.  With offices in Santa Barbara and Pasadena, Mitchell’s practice serves the needs of retirees, business owners, corporate executives and other professionals.

Mitchell is a Certified Financial Planner™, with the skills, qualifications and experience to meet the diverse and dynamic needs of Kaufman Wealth Services clients – from comprehensive financial plans, to assistance with more specific objectives related to investing, retirement planning, estate planning and insurance.

He is also an accomplished writer and speaker, whose contributions to his profession have been published in the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, and Kiplinger, as well as several publications in Southern California.

Throughout his career, Mitchell’s work and accomplishments have been recognized in a variety of ways.  Most recently, he was one of only five financial advisors in the U.S. named to the Advisor Hall of Fame for 2010 by Research magazine.  This honor has been bestowed on only 100 advisors during its 20 year history.  In 2009, Mitchell was recognized as one of three “Bear Market Stars” nationally by Registered Representative magazine in its August 2009 issue, for performance during the economic market downturn.   He was also recognized as one of the top 500 Registered Investment Advisors nationally by Financial Advisor Magazine for 2011.

Mitchell’s academic credentials include an M.B.A. from the Claremont Graduate University, where he was honored to serve as a graduate fellow under the late Dr. Peter F. Drucker.  He also earned a Certification in Financial Planning and Masters of Science from the College for Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado, as well as a B.A. in Business Economics and Political Science from the University of California at Santa Barbara.

Mitchell and his wife, Dr. Joanne Moran currently live in Santa Barbara, where their daughter Kelly and son-in-law Jeremy recently made them the proud grandparents – of twin granddaughters!

Mitchell believes strongly in giving back to the community.  He serves on the board of Social Venture Partners and the Anti Defamation League in Santa Barbara, and has lent his support to the Walter H. Capp Center for the Study of Ethics, Religion and Public Life, as well as the Santa Barbara City College Foundation.  He and his wife have also done volunteer teaching for retirement workshops at Santa Barbara City College and Pasadena City College adult education programs.

Inductees into the Advisor Hall of Fame have passed a rigorous screening, served a minimum of 15 years in the industry, acquired substantial assets under management, demonstrate superior client service, and have earned recognition from their peers and the broader community.
